Depicts 2 victims of a (simulated) shooting attack in an outdoor setting by a sniper.  Victims depicted are children (ages 11 and 9) both suffering apparent GSWs.

Depicts simulated GSW to the left arm of a 9 y/o girl.

F/X Child GSW Arm 1-2

Depicts simulated GSW to the left arm of a 9 y/o girl with a bystander attempting to provide immediate care.

TEACHING POINT. Noting the lack of gloves - could be due to gloves being unavailable to lay provider or due to a training situation.

Depicts simulated GSW to the left arm of a 9 y/o girl with a tourniquet partially applied proximal to the wound.

TEACHING POINT: TQ is applied over the clothes and proximal to the wound which is consistent with the C-TECC Guidelines for immediate/initial care bystanders.

TQ-Self Application-Arm - 1

Depicts a simulated lower arm injury with bleeding. The injured person is self-applying a tourniquet. The simulated wound (laceration or incision) is an apparent knife injury. Appropriate direct threat care, assuming the environment is still considered to be a hot zone.

TEACHING POINT: Note that the TQ is being applied high up the arm and is sufficiently tight to stop the bleeding.

TQ-Self Application - Arm-2

Depicts a simulated lower arm injury with bleeding. The injured person is self-applying a tourniquet. The simulated wound (laceration or incision) is an apparent knife injury. Appropriate direct threat care, assuming the environment is still considered to be a hot zone.

TEACHING POINT: Note that the TQ is being applied high up the arm and is sufficiently tight to stop the bleeding.

F/X Knife-Trauma-Arm---Impaled-1

Depicts a simulated penetrating knife wound. It appears that a tourniquet has been effectively applied and that EMS is examining the knife’s stability in the injury which will likely require immobilization before transport.

TEACHING POINT: Note that the examination of the knife’s stability and likely subsequent immobilization occurs after a TQ has controlled the bleeding.

5 y/o girl suffers from an apparent accidental knife injury (F/X) to her right arm which has caused significant bleeding.

5 y/o girl suffers from an apparent accidental knife injury (F/X) to her right arm which has caused significant bleeding.  Immediate care is being provided by a trained bystander who understands the importance of a tourniquet in stopping the bleeding.

Trained bystander is applying a tourniquet above the wound to control bleeding to this 5 y/o girl’s arm.

Trained bystander is applying a tourniquet above the wound to control bleeding to this 5 y/o girl’s arm.  The windless is be tightened to stop the bleed.

Set 7: TECC Training

Set of TECC Training, includes4 specialized image licenses relating to a simulated (F/X)  knife injury caused accidentally  to a 5 y/o child's arm.  The laceration produced significant bleeding. Initial and immediate care is being provided by a bystander / family member.
